Kitzbuhel Tuesdayy 2

It turned out that in fact fly was greatly privileged to see the car parade on Sunday.  After comments in class on Monday, (we have to talk each day at length about what we did the previous day/afternoon), Teacher Doris brought in today a double page spread from the newspaper “Osterreich” about said event.  The chap on the microphone was Mister Ferrari himself, Heribert Kasper,  and the blond thin woman with him (there was one in every car) was Prinzessin  Simone von something or other.  But the car was a world –first  showing of the “brandneue Ferrari FF, Allrad mit 660 PS in der Farbe blue pozi”.  (brandnew Ferrari FF, all wheel drive with 660 horsepower, in the colour blue pozi).  How lucky can one be.
Monday evening, and in the town we saw another first, for me, at any rate.  A V8 motorcycle.  A “Boss Hoss”.  Never heard of these before, but afficianodos (Andrews Amigos?) probably have.
Tuesday afternoon – we have no commitments, so England Ireland and Australia took New Australian up the Hannenkamm and for a walk.  Walking with a marathon runner and a very fit ski-instructor means many kilometres.  Just as well fly has bought walking poles.  We walk around the mountains where the ski runs go in the winter.  Interesting thing – there are barbed wire fences to keep the lovely cows in their owner’s pastures.  But after the Almatrieb, when they bring all the cattle down for the Winter, the farmers are paid by the local authority to remove all the fences as they would have unpleasant consequences for the ski-ers.  And then at the end of the ski season, when the cows come back up into the alps, farmers are paid to put their own fences back up again. Keeps people employed, brings in some income.
In January the Ski circuit is here in Kitzbuhel.  Apparently the Hannenkamm run is regarded as one of the big ones.  They call it a black run – they have colour coding for the difficulties of the runs.  Ireland will be here for it – she comes every year.  Fly will need to get Foxtel for sport, seeing winter sports once every four years in the Winter Olympics will not be enough.
There are sales in the shops for the change of season.  Kitzbuhel is a place where we are told one does not normally shop – everything is inflated.  But in the sports-shop fly found a warm jacket for the winter, a down one, RR, as you recommended; reduced from 220 euros to 80.  To be sure it is orange with a purple lining, but it actually looks good, even Italy (the grand-daughter of a Contessa, no less) said so.  It will serve very well.
DELIGHTED with Sam Stosur’s win in the US Open.  Of course, no-one here had heard of her, but fly made sure they are no longer in ignorance.  Also was on Djokovic’s side against Nadal – since he was so fetching in that charity game before the Australian Open in January.  He is the new Federer, no doubt.
