Kitzbuhel Monday

Fly passed the test, with an absolute lack of distinction.  America top of the Leader Board, Italy next, England and Australia tied next, Ireland following on.   There followed a long conversational discussion which started off being about the test but diverged into Austro-German history (very instructive to hear history from Austrian point of view)  and US West Coast wine production.  It appears this course for us ‘seniors’ will be fairly unstructured. Listening and speaking, but with interjections (frequent) to help with grammar, syntax, vocab, etc.  We have to stay with German, as Serena, the Italian, speaks no English.  This will no doubt be good for the rest.
Today is as wet and overcast as yesterday was sunny and blue. Not cool though. We were to go walkabout this afternoon, but will driveabout instead.  Fly has a pressing need to get washing done, and a diversion to a Laundromat (elegantly named a ‘washing saloon’ by Hans) has been promised. Also will be shown the Internet Café – internet not available in the Gasthaus.
From my desk I look out the French doors to the balcony, past the flower boxes on the balcony, and up the mountain.  Not bad at all. I can do two weeks of this, no troubles.
