Kitzbuhel Friday

A wonderful surprise on Friday night.  We “Over 50s”  had wandered into the village for dinner at about 7.30, to see a stage had been erected in the main square. So a café was chosen with a good view, and we ate excellent food while awaiting the action. The Kitzbuhler brass band marched  in, all in their Lederhosen and Jackets, hats with feathers etc.  The youngsters just had their school T-shirts on and they opened the concert, very ably too.  Then the main act, and it was wonderful to see.  They do this every week in the Summer, and Friday was the last time for this year, so we were lucky.  While they play, they send four young women dressed  in dirndls with wooden barrels at their waists, out into the crowd, offering free schnapps.  My nerve failed me and I declined.
It was mostly Tirolean music, very melodious and spirited, but also some other items that I knew well, and others did too, as the crowd sang along with Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious from Mary Poppins.
