Kitzbuhel Thursday

Very misty, some rain.  England, Ireland and Australia took the cable car up to the Hannenkamm again, had coffee with rum served by Lizzie who has kept the restaurant there forever, with her mother, husband and daughter to help, and knows everyone in Europe and remembers them all, and then set off to walk (clamber?) down the mountain.  Three hours, through clouds.  It took about 2.5 hours.  Ireland was in the lead, helped along by her walking poles (fly called them sticks and was roundly berated). She also knows the country, having ski-ed it for the past thirteen years.  The descent, which Ireland promised was OK – was an Irish form of OK.  But enjoyable nevertheless.  The efficacy of the cowbells was obvious, we could hear bells quite near but the cloud was so thick the cows could not be seen, until looming close across the track.  But they are very friendly, even the bulls, which fly learnt to recognise by the ring in the nose, no further investigation necessary.  The good old crocs have been scrubbed in the shower, ready to take me around another day.  It is more than likely that Friday will find a fly with very stiff knees.s
Watching the US tennis Open, with German commentary.  Just as well I know how the scoring works. Serena(Italian)  and the fly were very disappointed when   Francesca Sciavone was beaten by one of those Williams Sisters the other night.
