Kitzbuhel Saturday

Such a day.  Doris, unsere Lehrerin, had suggested taking us for a walk. A walk! For three and a half hours we went up and down the valley, climbed up hills, trotted down, met the cows, sweated in the 30 degree heat, saw families cutting down the meadow grass for hay for the winter, around the Lake, stopped for a Spritzige  usw.  It was perfect, accompanied by babbling German-English-Italian conversation. Then the Spielbahn (cable car) up to the Kitzbuhler Horn, the highest peak in the immediate vicinity (though not too far away at all for higher ones). Lunch – Gulash mit Kartoffeln.  (everything here is with potatoes).  Many families, it is a holiday place for people from all over Europe.  Then England and Ireland set out to do the entire descent on foot.  Australia walked down to the Alpine Garden and on to the MittelStation of the Seilbahn.  That was enough! By the time I got back down and walked to Gasthaus, it was 4pm and I was kaputt, as they say here all the time.  But the beauty of the place, and the grandeur of the mountains, is breathtaking.  Always, wherever you look, it is overwhelming.
At dinner, England and Ireland were also kaputt.  The first time England has been tired.  They were also very sun-burned.  The air is so clean here, one burns very easily.   And in general people do not wear hats, rather they soak up the sun.
The waiter at the Weinstuber (very good salmon and vegetables) was amused by our multi-lingual conversation. Fly had the very best salmon ever.  There is a place here that does the very best trout – must not miss it.
